I received an email from Sue Ripley that my pattern was chosen for the 2009 A Pattern-A-Day Calendar. That is so awesome! It is going to be the
June 19th pattern. It is called Blossom in Buff Headband.

This was the first time I submitted one so that is really cool.

For doing so, I receive a free calendar when they are printed. I can't wait!

Happy Crocheting!

Ring Bearer's Pillow

I made this for my daughter's wedding. Three shows have come to an end. First Survivor: Probably the best season I have seen yet. A lot of blind siding and female domination! I must say I wasn't pleased with the outcome. Amanda you got robbed plain and simple. You outsmarted everyone with the hidden immunity idol and outplayed Parv and the rest with immunity challenges. I hope you find that your greatest win was your relationship with Ozzy.

Second The Bachelor London Calling: Another great and probably the best right up there with Trista & Ryan. Shayne I have seen a lot of negative threads on ABC message board about you. All I have to say is please ignore the losers. You were magnificent and as Matt said it the best genuine. May you both find happiness and don't let the media ruin things for you.

Third Big Brother: Very disappointed in this show as they aired a few things that shouldn't have been aired. A couple having sex in the bathroom. Did we really need to know that? Also, the public display of abuse that arrogant James did to Sheila. Come on CBS get real. A little censorship maybe?? And the winner? Adam? Unbelievable!

Looking forward to watching Deanna the next bachelorette. I hope she truly finds happiness. Questioning why these people can't find love in the real world. Oh well just not my cup of tea.

My Sunrise Sunset Afghan

Here is the sunrise sunset afghan in progress. I am about 1/2 way done. I just love making this because it is so much fun to make the squares. Not sure what I am going to do with it. It will most likely be a gift unless I get a really good offer for it. It took a lot of time and work, so I wouldn't let it go without a good offer.

Also, here is a picture of the throw I made as a wedding gift for my soon to be niece-in-law. She is marrying my Godson so I wanted to make her something special for herself on those cold and rainy days. It is the Lacy V Stitch from Leisure Arts 30 Easy-To-Crochet Pattern Stitches. Couldn't ask for better weather in the 80's all week except for one day and no rain in sight. The house we rented was very accommodating for all of us and it was in the perfect location close to my son's house.

We took the kids to a fun park and the bumper cars were so much fun! We went to a spring training Red Sox game at the City of Palms Fort Myers. Red Sox won. Manny, Cocoa and J.D. Drew were the only big names that played and they played for a short time only. This picture was taken by personnel at the game and they were awful. Look at how they cut the trophy off. It would have been nice to see the whole trophy with the words World Series Champs. I bet they heard a lot of feedback about their photography skills.

We went to the beach and walked a long pier. Soaking up the sun felt so fine after being in this cold weather here at home.

On Saturday March 1st my son Keith got married and the wedding was so beautiful! Everything went very well and much fun was had by all.

I had a very frightening moment at the airport coming back to Massachusetts. I could not find my wallet. Needless to say my husband was not happy with me. LOL. I was really upset but I finally found the darn thing. I had put it in my camera case at the Red Sox Game because I didn't take my purse. Thank God my son Jarrod looked in there because I had given up looking after I emptied my suitcase out practically in the garage at the rental car place.

Nonetheless we had a great time and the flight and all the arrangements were perfect.

Great memories for my whole family. Can't wait to do it all over again.

Congratulations New York Giants

Well my dream did not come true. My team the New England Patriots lost the Superbowl 17-14 to the New York Giants. I was completely disappointed in the way they played the game or should I say the way they didn't play the game.

I am wondering if the news of them spygating the Rams really did them in. Could they have possibly have thrown the game because of it? As I realize this was not the players doing maybe it just drained all what they had and it took the spark out of them. They were not themselves! It was so evident in watching the game. It was truly not the same Patriots that had a perfect season up until that point.

Nevertheless, the Patriots' record ended with 18-1. Not the history making 19-0 that everyone predicted. They were favored to win by 12 points. I am sure there were a lot of people feeling the same way I did on Monday morning. Crap I had a hard time sleeping Sunday night.

Like everyone says there's always next year, but I truly wanted to live the history making moment like everyone else and am devastated by the results.

Go Patriots!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xs_L3uBnau0/R6U00VdvaiI/AAAAAAAAAEk/BBAfTTodreg/s320/image002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5162590621569870370" />

I am so excited! It is a size 9 months to approximately 12 months.

I didn't like the way the neckline went so I filled it in a little bit with single crochet. I will post a picture as soon as the batteries in my camera charge back up.

Happy 2nd Birthday to my sweet Grandson Dillon.

Basketweave Bag

I made this for my co-worker's daughter for Christmas.

I didn't have a pattern and I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.

It measures about 12" x 12" with a long shoulder strap. May you have much to eat, lots of laughter and being a couch potato afterward is totally allowed.

Pauline

Brown & Aran Round Ripple

I am so happy!!! Geez time flies when you're having fun! To continue with my story, in closing I would just like to let you all know that you must cherish the good times in life always because the not so great times shadow the good times. Life is what you make of it and there will be many times you will feel like life just shouldn't be this way. However, our family are good people and people like us need to make the world a better place. As you get older you will find that the world keeps getting smaller and smaller. There are many bad people who co-exist on this planet and hopefully as time passes on people will be nicer and this world will be more loving. Just remember always is family is the most important in all of your living years.

I Love You,

Memere

Part 2

Hi Boys!

Sorry I didn't make it last night. I couldn't even turn on the computer much less stare at a monitor.

Looking back on my letter, I forgot to mention that your Dadju and I were awaken by snow plows clearing the street at 4 AM.

After we got off the bus, we went to Radio City Music Hall to see if we could get tickets for your 2nd cousin and his girlfriend. They wanted outrageous prices for two tickets so we left. As we were walking down the street, this older woman was standing there trying to sell three tickets she had purchased. It turned out that the people who were going to go couldn't make it so lo and behold he scooped them up.

We had a little time before the show to see the tree at Rockefeller Center and the skating rink. You could only skate for a 1/2 hour as per their rules. I am not sure how much it cost, but I'm sure it was a pretty penny probably one I couldn't afford at the time because of all the Christmas presents I had to buy.

My advice to anyone that wants to go is to bring their own skates. The experience is once in a lifetime and if you are lucky in life maybe more.

Continuing from Part One....

Your second cousin and his girlfriend wanted to see the biggest toy store I have ever seen because they had never seen it before.

It had the biggest piano (which had been in a movie starring Tom Hanks) and there was two young men who played a few notes to the audience to have them guess what song they were playing. We didn't have much time to stick around because we only had one day in the Big Apple and time was ticking by.

One day I hope to remember the lessons I was taught in the second through six grade at the parochial school I attended. My father, mother and Sister Mary would be so proud.

However, I had a bad experience at our school's piano recital where I got stage freight and completely forgot my routine. The song was Oh! Suzanna and i forgot the last part of the song. To my recollection I think I repeated a few verses over and over. The song went something like this...Oh Suzanna oh don't you cry for me as I went to Alabama with a banjo on my knee. That's one part of my life I would really want to forgot because that was one of my embarrassing moments. Also on the trip was my nephew and his girlfriend.

It began like this:

I was awaken by the alarm that I had set the night before however, it was an hour earlier than I had anticipated because I had set the alarm clock that my son bought me one year and had never set it back an hour due to daylight savings time. At that point I was awake and would be nervous about going back to sleep for fear of oversleeping so I got up. The excitement of going to this fabulous city again and being with my sister to spend a sister's day together was just amazing. After triple checking my bags to make sure I didn't forget anything, I headed out the door. I had to make a stop at Walmart to get snacks for the bus ride because I had forgotten to do that the day before. In the meantime my sister and I had a couple of conversations by cell phone ie; don't forget the tickets, what do you want on your sandwich, what kind of snacks do you want, the bus isn't getting there to pick us up until 7:45 am so don't hurry, etc.

So I get to the pick up point at 7:30 and right before me the bus is arriving. I get back on the cell to let my sis know to hurry up. I proceed to get on the bus to save seats get four in the back with a good view of the television screen and by the bathroom. The bus is starting to fill up fast and a nice looking couple in their early 60's I'd say come to where I am sitting and the woman asked if these seats were taken and I said yes they were. Her response was that "that wasn't very nice" and proceeded to walk away. I have to say I am proud of myself because I didn't reply back and let it slide because I didn't want anything to spoil this day.

My sister finally gets to the bus and we left our pick up point only 5 minutes later than scheduled. The bus driver made awesome time and we reached New York City at 10:45.
We got dropped off close to Radio City Music Hall which was awesome because my sister and I had tickets to see the Christmas Spectacular Show featuring the Rockettes. This was my first time being at Radio City and seeing this show that had started in the 1930's.

The show went like this: The Orchestra welcomes us with 36 musicians (who by the way had been on strike when I purchased the tickets about a month before) .

Scene 1 - Santa's Magical Journey in 3-D - absolutely breathtaking!! The sleigh ride high above the streets and packages and wreaths right in front of your face, the show falling down from the ceiling, watching kids faces as this was all happening was an experience I will never forget.

Scene 2 - Deck the Hall - Opening number of the Rockettes - Superb!! I didn't count them but I would have to guess around 35 beautiful woman with amazing bodies, outstanding talent and precise and syncronized dance routines. It is truly amazing how these woman perform in unison. I would highly recommend it because the cost of the tickets were well worth it.

Scene 3 - The nutcracker: Great for kids. A little girl who dreams of opening presents filled with 32 of the biggest Teddy Bears and Christmas presents you've ever seen.

Scene 4 - The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers - This was my sister's favorite part. First performed in 1933, this is the most famous and beloved Rockette performances. Vincent Minnelli designed the costume. If I remember he is Liza Minelli's father who was Judy Garland's daughter (she played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz). The domino effect that they performed when shot by a cannon by Santa was spectacular (I was amazed that their legs didn't break). You just have to see this one!

Scene 5 - Here Comes Santa - See how Santa is able to deliver all the presents to boys and girls around the world. Very cute! At one point there was 54 Santa Clauses on stage.

Scene 6 - White Christmas in New York- The weathermen from all channels ie: Tony from ABC, Al from NBC etc. forecast no snow for Christmas and in this routine is where the snow falls from the ceiling onto our heads.

Scene 7 - Ice Skating in the Plaza - At one point before this scene, the Orchestra which was underneath the stage part, moves to the back of the state and another platform comes up that features an ice skating rink. A couple skate under the giant tree in Rockefeller Center.

Scene 8 - The North Pole - Welcome to the North Pole where Mrs. Claus and the elves are awaiting Santa's arrival with only hours to go until take off on Christmas Eve.

Scene 9 - Santa's Toy Workshop - They get all the toys in his huge red bag, but as they are ready to take off they notice that a letters has fallen from the mail sack. It is from a little girl who wishes for a rag doll. Santa says he must start up the toy making machine so that no one is disappointed at Christmas!

Scene 10 - The Living Nativy - This was my favorite part because this is what Christmas is all about. The presentation is in keeping with the revered tradition originated by Saint Francis of Assisi in 1223 for the people of Greccio, Italy. Realizing Christmas had lost its meaning for many in his day, Saint Francis pondered various ways of bringing the story closer to them. He had a wonderful idea - to reeact the story of the Nativity on Christmas Eve. That night the creche brought Christmas to life for the people of that small town.

The songs that were played were Silent Night, O Little Town of Bethlehem, The First Noel, We Three Kings, O Come, All Ye Faithful and Hark, the Herald Angel Sing.

Then the screen began to move with this story written on it right before our eyes:

One Solidary Life

He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman He grew up in another obscure village, where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years, He was an itinerant preacher. He never had a family or owned a home. He never set foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place He was born. He never wrote a book, or held an office. He did none of the things that usually accompany greatness.

While He was still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against Him. His friends deserted Him. He was turned over to His enemies, and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property he had - His coat. When He was dead, He was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave.

Over two thousand years have passed, and today He is the central figure for much of the human race. All the armies that ever marched and all the navies that ever sailed and all the parliaments that ever sat and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as this "One Solitary Life".

Finally Radio Music City Hall bids us farewell and sends us best wishes for a Merry Christmas while Joy to the World is played.

As time approaches after midnight I must end this part of my experience and continue tomorrow. Kennedy was shot dead in Dallas 42 years ago. Although I was young I still remember the look on my Mom's face when the news came over our black & white television set.

How the country mourned this beloved man and how horrible his murder was. The footage on tv was just unbelievable. The images of Jackie in that limo and the scenes of Little John at the funeral will stick in my mind forever.

Our country changed forever after that happened and we were cheated from the great things this man could have done for us.

We were a nation united and that dreadful day shattered all our hopes and dreams.

So Mr. President, wherever you are, please accept my thanks for serving us for the short time that it was. May I live to see another great President like yourself lead our country again.

One day, I hope mankind will not kill each other. I can only hope.

God Bless America!

Craft Show Disaster

Well I have my first craft fair under my belt and came away with the feeling of great disappointment.

I really don't know why because I went into it knowing that people just don't appreciate handmade crafts as they did many years ago.

I enjoyed being around other people who are very talented and proud of their craft whatever it may be though and don't regret the experience.

However, I do not think I would ever do one again.

I will enjoy crocheting for myself, family and friends and who knows I may generate some orders from it.

Stay tuned.....

Crochet Wrist Bag

Good Morning all,

This is the wrist bag I crocheted to donate to the church on Saturday for the craft fair. Hope you did too. My Grandson celebrated his 2nd birthday with family and friends yesterday. He got way too many toys. At one point was so overwhelmed he didn't know which one to play with first.

Here is a pic of the set I made for my grandson #3 on the way in December. Name to be further announced (don't think they made up their minds yet).

I also made some adorable cradle purses (pics to be posted soon).

We went to the town's annual Halloween parade on Saturday nite. A little parade which the kids walked behind the town's fire truck with sirens blaring and kids in costume. We then crowded into the town hall for some trick or treat and prizes for best costumes. My little one got on stage dressed at Batman but was not chosen for a prize.

Gotta get some work done - till later.

Pauline

Day 2

Well day 2 is here and I don't have any comments made to my blog but am optimistic that I will eventually get some feedback. I recently made some cute cradle purses. I obtained the pattern from my good friend over at Crochetville. They are so cute! I wish I had a Granddaughter that could enjoy them. I am thinking about selling them at the craft fair or seeking out some deserving little girl for the holidays.

I tried making a ripple afghan last nite but just couldn't conquer the stitch. I am not going to give up however just going to give a rest for a little while and see if I can pick up some tips from my favorite website, Crochetville.

Another day has come and almost gone, looking forward to the Fall Back this weekend. God knows I could use the extra sleep.

Till tomorrow,

Pauline

Crochet4Uanytime by Pauline

Good Morning All

Hello everyone,

I am new to blogging and am really excited about it.
